Faith Baptist Church History

Faith Baptist Church was founded on January 29, 1989. Morning services were first held at the KOA Campground in Mims; evening services met in homes. Dr. Jeff Stiles was called as the first pastor, and on April 2, 1989, a formal organizational service was held. Meetings were soon moved to the McCotter Ford warehouse in Titusville and then to the Carpenter’s Union Hall on Holder Road in June of 1990. In early 1993 the land at 1220 North Carpenter Road was purchased with an official groundbreaking on October 17, 1993. Work on that facility would not be completed until 1995. The first service in the new building was held on Wednesday, May 17, 1995. We paid off the note on the Carpenter Road facility in late 1999. God also blessed us in 2013 with the addition of a modular building for children’s ministry.
The Lord brought Jeremy Coppock to co-pastor alongside Pastor Stiles in October of 1998. Soon Pastor Stiles retired, and the church called Pastor Coppock to be the new pastor in the early days of 1999. Pastor Coppock has been our pastor now for 24 years—years in which both the church and he have grown. Pastor and Dana now have three children: Jeremy, Chloe and Matthew. In 2012 Christopher and Stacy Garrison joined us. Chris serves as our Worship Leader and our Youth Pastor. In the last ten years, Pastor Garrison has become indispensable to our ministry.

The ministry of the Word has always been of primary importance at FBC. Regular Bible Fellowships are continually being offered. Our hope is to provide the environment and teaching necessary to nurture our church’s future leaders with special studies for all ages. We are asking God to continue to strengthen our efforts to make disciples of Jesus.

Through the years, Faith Baptist has consistently invested in missions and missionaries all over the world. We hold annual conferences, refocusing and recommitting to another year of outreach. We have made many mission trips: 2001- Bahamas; 2003- Myanmar; 2004- Mexico; 2005- The Philippines; 2006- Cambodia; 2007- Haiti; 2008- Scotland; 2009- Suriname; 2010- Kenya; 2011- Bearing Precious Seed; 2012- Haiti; 2013- Lithuania; 2015- Bahamas; 2019- Colombia. We now hope to increase our presence in Asia and also to intensify our efforts to share the Gospel in our own community.

Faith has steadily grown over the years as God has added dedicated believers to our church. We have witnessed God’s goodness as He has provided for our needs to carry on His work. The Lord has always blessed this church with an excellent spirit. There is always a sense of expectation because of what God is doing here, and a conviction that God is working here among us. We are humbled by His hand and still hopeful as we anticipate future blessings.

While we were thankful for God’s generous provision of the facility on Carpenter Road, the Lord allowed us to save funds for future growth. We began setting aside monies for what we called the NextMove. We searched and prayed and saved for years until in 2020 we found a larger facility at 1235 South Park Avenue, and in 2021, God led us to purchase it. The facility on South Park Avenue needed to be rescued just like we did, and in 11 months our members worked to make this place our new home. By the grace of God, we not only sold the buildings on North Carpenter Road, but we also made the move and enjoyed our first service here last year on April 3, 2022! And while the dust has only started to settle, God has allowed us to work to remodel the front entrance in order to make worship more accessible. To God be the glory! May we always trust the Lord for His timing and provision.

These past years have brought new challenges as our world changes around us. While the way we do things has been somewhat affected, we are grateful that the ministry of our church remains solid. We pray God will find us faithful to serve Him with an authentic Christianity that is purely Biblical.

As Faith Baptist Church looks to the future, our focus will always remain on making disciples of Jesus Christ. We will continue to lead followers of Jesus to Know God, to Grow in Grace, and to Show Christ—all for the glory of God. We praise God for the privilege of 34 years of ministry in Titusville and its surrounding communities.
